Gordon Mackay - Orthopaedic Consultant & Surgeon
Gordon Mackay graduated from St Andrews and Glasgow (1987). As part of his Orthopaedic training he spent a year in Australia on a Sports Surgery fellowship and returned to Scotland to take up a consultant post at Stirling Royal in 2000.
His private practice has been running since 2000 - he set up completely privately 5 years ago approximately and is based out of Ross Hall Hospital, Glasgow, Kings Park Hospital Stirling and Space. He is the surgeon for the Sports Institute Athletes, looks after the Scottish rugby players and many football club players, including Rangers and Celtic.
In 1988/89 he took a year out of medical training in to play football with Rangers - this fired his enthusiam for sports medicine and gave him insight into the frustrations of injured athletes who wish to return to their chosen sport asap.
